FSA CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

Tournament Rules:

All league rules apply with one additional rule; if a tournament game ends in a tie at the end of the regular time, the match will be decided by kicks from the mark (aka penalty kicks). Each team will provide a roster to the referees with the order in which players will be taking the kicks (list can only have players that were on the field at end of the game). The kicks will be decided by best of 5 kicks from each team, the team with the most goals wins the match. If there is a tie after the 5 kicks from each team, the kicks from the mark will continue (one at a time for each team) until one team scores and the other does not. The team that scores wins the match.

If the game is still tied after those five shooters for each team have taken a kick, bench players DO NOT become eligible to take kicks only the players who were on the field at the end of regulation play.

If one team is short on players the other team must reduce to equalize to make sure that the sequence for each team will be equal if there are more penalty kicks needed that players on the field. No player may kick a second time until all players have kicked once if the score remains tied after each subsequent kick beyond the initial 5.

There is a 2nd coin toss to determine which team kicks first (winner of the toss decides). The referee makes this decision which goal will be used for penalty kicks.

Penalty will be painted prior to the games, however in case the penalty mark is no longer visible when starting the penalty kicks the referee will determine the penalty spot. This is not up for discussion on how far, move it to the left or right etc., they are non-biased therefore best qualified.

Goalkeepers can be changed after every kick, but the “pool” for these players can only be from those on the field at the end of regulation.

Double Elimination Tournament Format

Tournament Final

The tournament final is a single elimination game, this means that once the teams make it to the final the winner of the final is the winner of the tournament.

Seeding for the tournament:

  • Head-to-Head
  • Goal Differential (Overall Season)
  • Goals Scored

Weather caused schedule changes

In case games cannot be played due to the weather all games will shift to the next day. Thursday games will shift to Saturday morning and Saturday morning games will shift to Saturday afternoon (Subject to change). In case we have more than 1 weather cancellation a week, Sunday Afternoon will be used to get back on schedule. If more weather related cancellations occur, the tournament will be moved from a Double Elimination tournament to a Single Elimination tournament. If this should occur, all teams that have lost will be eliminated.
